The picture of Noe lets you guess: the books of Bubu and Bookfactory are incredibly diverse! With us, there is no standard and no norm that has to be met – our books can be customized in content as well as in dress and are therefore characterized by a never-ending diversity.
Although we are looking forward to the Swiss Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Pratteln with the rest of Switzerland, we are still not the experts in the sport of wrestling. And yet, once again, we have found interesting parallels between variety in the sport of wrestling and in book production. For example, we have uniqueness in common: every fight is unique and different from every other duel. The same is true for us – certain books may be similar, but they are always different. As mentioned, the “simple standard” is not for us, especially since we want to apply the appropriate execution to each of our customers’ stories, which are so different – and neither the stories nor our customers fit into a standardized mold.
Possibilities in execution
In swinging there are countless techniques, swings, movements or throws that can be applied. Our profession also allows us to create very different products thanks to the combination of different forms of application. For example, the following criteria can be customized, just to name a few:
– Format: Landscape images or photos of a safari are better shown off in a large-format product, whereas emotions can be shown independently of a format, for example in a smaller booklet that fits better in the hand or is easier to take along.
– Binding type: A design that extends over the binding can only be shown to its best advantage in a flat book; a layout without pictures falling off the edge can be presented just as well in the somewhat cheaper adhesive binding, or for a cookbook that is often used, the wire-o binding, which also lies flat, can be used.
– Paper grade: The paper gives the product the decisive touch for the feel. While uncoated papers bring a lot of warmth and tranquility with their open surface, coated papers focus on precision, i.e. on the photography itself.
These examples alone show the numerous small but subtle possibilities that make each book unique.

Soon to be part of the ESAF 2022: Noe van Messel.
Clothes make the man, but inner values count
The uniqueness of the design becomes even more unique when the contents are added. Books tell a variety of stories in pictures and/or text. Themes can capture unique experiences, allow melancholy moments to be processed or document completely different events in a desired way – no two stories are alike and reflect the diversity of our customers.
At the same time, the fight in the sawdust also requires the swinger to write his own story: He must choose his own tactics in order to optimally apply the trained technique. The choice of technique alone is not enough – it must fit the tactics, i.e. the story.
Last but not least: diversity
While in the sport of wrestling the various regional associations have their own characteristics, at Bubu/Bookfactory we have had many different people working for you every day since we started in 1941. For us, it is not so much the etiquette or some lip service that counts, but rather the focus is on the employee as a human being – with all his or her abilities and characteristics. This genuine diversity is what makes us who we are and is a matter of course for us.
In this last blog post about the similarities from Schwingsport to us, we hope we have convinced you of our diverse capabilities in execution and the quality of our work. In any case, we keep our fingers crossed for Noe van Messel for the upcoming “Eidgenössische” and hope to be able to share Noe’s unique story with you soon!
