Your own cookbook: the best recipes as a photo book

In this blog post, I’ll show you how you can create a beautiful, self-designed cookbook with our Photobook Wiro! It’s not only a beautiful gift, but also a great way to keep a record of your favourite recipes for yourself.

Whether they’re traditional family recipes from your grandmother, your own recipes or the best dishes you’ve discovered while travelling, there’s room for everything in your self-designed cookbook.

Design tips for your cookbook

Plan the structure
Think about how you want to structure your cookbook. A classic division into categories such as ‘starters’, ‘main dishes’ and ‘desserts’ makes it particularly easy to follow. Alternatively, you can organise the recipes by season, country or family member.

Beautiful Photos
Take photos of your dishes when they are beautifully presented, and make sure the light is good. With the Photobook Wiro, you can present your pictures in a large format – perfect for showing off your delicacies.

Make it personal
Add little anecdotes, tips or memories to the recipes. For example: ‘My mother always cooked this soup when I was ill’. This is how you make your cookbook unique.

Creative ideas for the design

  • Use special and beautiful backgrounds for recipes and photos.
  • Integrate illustrations such as spices, cooking utensils or ingredients. You can find free illustrations on Unsplash, for example. But you can also search for PNG images on Google so that the background is transparent and you can place the cooking utensils in image boxes as you like.

Christmas extras

Why not add a section of Christmas recipes or create an entire Christmas cookbook?

My favourite Christmas recipe: cinnamon stars

This recipe is so simple and delicious that I bake it every year. Maybe you’ll like it too!

Ingredients:

  • 200 g ground almonds
  • 100 g icing sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • A little icing sugar for rolling out

Preparation:

  1. Beat the egg white until stiff, slowly add the icing sugar.
  2. Fold in the almonds and cinnamon until a smooth dough is formed.
  3. Roll out the dough on a work surface dusted with icing sugar.
  4. Cut out stars and bake at 150°C (convection oven) for about 10 minutes.

The cinnamon stars are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside!

Why Photobook Wiro is perfect for your cookbook

Photobook Wiro is spiral bound, making it ideal for the kitchen. It can be left open so you can easily follow the recipes. It is also robust and can withstand the occasional spill. You can customise it however you like – from the paper to the layout.

So what are you waiting for? This Christmas, give someone you love your first self-designed cookbook!
