What could be more personal and heartfelt than a Christmas gift you’ve designed yourself with photos of the whole family? That’s why I make beautiful photo gifts with and for my children every year. Plan a photoshoot to get beautiful photos for creative Christmas gifts:
Time flies when you have two small children, or not so small children anymore. That’s why it’s all the nicer to take time for a professional photo shoot. Every year at the end of autumn, I summon the whole family outside to a place we like. Depending on the weather and temperature, we are either already dressed for winter or a bit lighter – and for some photos, of course, Christmas decorations are a must.
A photo calendar for grandparents, godparents and godmothers
A photo calendar is a great way to capture family moments and give joy all year round. Each month could have a different theme in your calendar, e.g. ‘Sunny Outings’ for summer or ‘Winter Magic’ for December, January and February, with matching photos from the shoot. You could add some of the children’s drawings to a few pages. To do this, simply scan in your children’s drawings or photograph them. I also like to leave a few pages blank so that the children can express themselves with glitter pens and Neocolor – this way, a normal calendar becomes a creative Christmas gift.
A memo game made from two Moments-Boxes for our children
For our children, I create a memo game from two Moments-Boxes so that we can all train our memory. My self-designed memo game has 24 pairs of cards, which makes 48 individual cards. I choose motifs that interest my children at the moment, so each memo game is completely individual. Our son loves pirates, for example, so this year I’m giving him a pirate memo game.
A self-designed friendship or guest book for my sister
Friendship or guest books are also a nice idea for adults. With our software, you can easily design one yourself. I chose a Photobook Wiro for my sister’s gift and looked for inspiration on Pinterest. I copied a few questions from these friendship and guest books, but also came up with my own questions. I then inserted these questions into text boxes in the software. This way, the friendship or guest book becomes a creative Christmas gift and is sure to bring joy under every Christmas tree!
A photo book for us
Since I have a lot of nice photos from the photo shoot, I also use them to create a gift for us. Every year, I capture my memories in the same photo book so that they form a beautiful series on the bookshelf. I chose the Photobook Flex in panorama format because most of the pictures were taken horizontally and so each shot can take up a whole page on its own.
Fun photo cards for Christmas gifts
For me, personal words are simply part of Christmas. I like to create humorous photo cards with Artguru, a free AI tool, for this purpose. I upload a photo of our family, choose a style that suits it, such as ‘oil painting’, and in no time at all, the picture looks like a small painting. Then I insert the edited photo into the online editor or the software and order the Photo cards.
