The unusual photo book quality test
As Noé van Messel’s practical test shows, we not only make the most beautiful photo books in Switzerland, but also the most stable. Hans Burkhardt, our Chairman of the Board of Directors, tests the young swinger and presents him with «any» as well as «the Bookfactory photo book». Stable in many respects
Regarding stability, by the way, we recommend a hardcover to you as specialists. A hardcover is a book with a solid, stable book cover. The book cover is larger than the contents, has protruding edges and thus protects the valuable contents. The endpapers (two sheets, each containing 4 pages) connect the book cover to the book block. We see another advantage of the sturdy book in its value. For the neutral observer, a book with a solid book cover looks more valuable compared to a booklet with a flexible cover.
If the implementation with a flexible cover appeals to you more, we of course have a solution in our assortment. The photobook booklet is provided with flexible cover in wire stitching. Cover and content are the same size. The cover is a sturdy, thicker paper. Suitable for implementation as a low-cost booklet with a few pages of content.
In the Wiro photo book, a double spiral binding connects the protective cover made of transparent plastic with the content pages. This type of binding is suitable in practice for seminar papers, documentation or simple show books.

By the way, our company has been offering stability in the figurative sense for 80 years. At Bookfactory’s parent company, Bubu AG, everything revolves around binding. We bind books, people, passions – that’s the common thread running through Bubu’s offering. From printed information, we create a product that can be experienced with all the senses. We accompany the creation process of a book, from the first inspiration in our Bindorama to the concretization via our project managers to the realization in our digital, manual or industrial production.
It goes without saying that this also results in very extensive books and yet stable books. In such cases, we have job-specific tricks up our sleeve. For very large books, for example, we recommend a round spine. In the case of large formats, we use a thicker cover board and a stronger end paper to ensure stability even with a heavy «book weight».
